Is my dog going to be allowed in cabin(Air canada)?
I am moving from Edmonton, AB to Boston this month. My dog is 11.5lbs and about 14inches tall. I really want to take her with me in cabin and I even bought Sherpa medium bag(fabric) But she can not stand while she is in the bag. She can comfortably sit/lie down in the bag. I guess my question is do those people at the counter really check to see if the dog stands, sit and turn around inside the bag? Should I also prepare a hard plastic kennel? I want to microchip her if she has to go in the cargo, but I hear microchips can cause cancer. I dont want her to get cancer.
I talked to the air canada person on reservation line and all she said was it should be fine. as she meets the weight restriction and my bag is within limits. But I dont want any surprises at the counter when I check in.(They require you to check in person when you have a pet)
I have travelled with a cat on a plane (I would never put my dog on because he’d have to go with the cargo – he’s big) and it wasn’t a problem. You just have to be able to fit the bag under the seat in front of you. I’ve also been on air canada with dogs on the plane. Keep in mind that the total weight has to include the carrier as well. Make sure the carrier will fit under the seat and you shouldn’t have a problem.
There site gives specifications on the size. So just double check that everything meets that and it should be fine.
