How can I highlight duplicate values in Excel in two different columns?
I have a list of values in two columns Column A and Column B. I want to find all of the values in column B that are the same in column A. How can I set this up? We have a freezer that have samples in them (and we have multiple vials of the same sample). I am retrieving all of the samples in Column A but I want to collect an additional vial IF that sample happens to be in column B also. There are over 10,000 samples and just wanted to know how I could just plug a formula in to see which samples in Column A that I need to grab an additional vial for.
This will highlight duplicates in column B that are in column A
Select column B
Select from the menu Format Conditional Formatting
-Condition 1
–Formula is =COUNTIF(A:A, B1) >0
–Format a background color pattern
OK
The B1 in the formula will change to B2, B3 etc. for each cell in column B
This doesn’t color code the individual duplicates e.g. B1 = A4 and then both have a unique color from other duplicates.
