Feline/Cat HCM?

Cat was diagnosed with moderate to severe hypertrophic cardio myopathy (HCM). He is 12 years old. He was prescribed plavix, atenolol, and enalapril. My question is: will these meds actually DO anything? Can they really help him? Pilling him is a nightmare and the last thing he needs is more stress! Vets or vet techs please respond. Thank you.

We have quite a few cats at our clinic that are on Enacard (Enalpril) for their heart conditions and they are doing very well. They are also on Lasix which helps with excess fluids. We don’t use the other two at our clinic.

Pet Pockets are my new best friend. They may help with you pilling your cat. They are little treats with a hole, or pocket, in the middle. You put the pill in, close up the treat and the cat will eat it…and be looking for more. I have to pill two cats twice a day and I have to tell you, this is a completely stress free job for all of us. I highly recommend them.

Prayers to you both.
