Getting outdoor/indoor cat to use litter box inside?
I have two cats who are 2 years old (one male and one female, both are fixed). They usually pee and poop outside but sometimes they poop outside the box in the house. Last week, we were on vacation and the neighbor was watching them and they must have been in more. When we came home, they had peed in our carepted closet and pooped in our bedroom a few times, which I am not happy about! It is fine for them to be outside a lot now but with cooler weather coming they will be in more and I want them to use the box inside.
Is there any way I can re-train them to just go in the litter box in the house? I’ve heard to keep them confined to a small room with the litter box and their food/water for a few days. Would that work for a cat who is used to going outside?
I have two boxes, one in the laundry room and one in the basement. I am using Feline Pine litter. Should I try to switch litter and see if that helps?
my cat litter box is right inside to back door the has no trouble with that and he prefes it there anyhow
