Natural cat litter?
I am interested in trying Swheat Scoop for my cat.
I have just tried the recycled paper stuff and it doesn’t work, plus, it doesn’t clump.
I have tried Feline Pine before and I didn’t like it because it smelled so bad. I have never tried the scoopable kind, though.
Is Swheat Scoop any good? I have heard a lot of good reviews about it but want to make sure that I am purchasing the right thing.
Any other ideas for natural cat litter?
Do not give me any advice for clay litter…that stuff is not eco-friendly and I don’t need my litterbox smelling like “Mountain Fresh”!
Thanks
I have been using Swheat cat litter for about two years or so. (I have 7 cats!) The only problem that I have noticed is that you have to let the liquids form a clump. You can’t clean it out of the box RIGHT after the cat has urinated. (It’s messy.) It just takes a little while for it to clump but other than that I love it. (10 minutes usually works)The dust is almost none existent. My cats took to it right away. (I tried the Feline Pine and I had a few cats that were scared of the it.) As for odor, as long as you wash the box out every few weeks, you should be fine. If you cat is good at covering up his/her # 2′s than you should have minimal/no odor. The litter really has no smell on it’s own. This litter is also toilet and septic friendly. (And no, my cats have never tried to eat this stuff.) In my opinion this is GREAT STUFF!!!
You definitely don’t want to use clay litter anyway. That stuff isn’t just bad for the environment it is bad for your cat’s health. The clay dust can lead to respiratory problems and sometimes cancer in some cats. Not to mention respiratory problems for humans as well.
