Anyone with a cat with FIP?

My cat Gracie was diagnosed w/ cancer between her small and large intestines, well it turned out after sending it to the University of Tn lab that it wasn’t cancer, it is FIP, feline infectiuos peritonitis. She is only 5 and has severe weight loss and allergies. I have 6 other healthy cats in my house, I can’t have kids, these are my babies, I don’t want to loose one let alone loose all of them. This disease incurable and contagious, but the other guys are vet assured healthy. My question is to anyone who has had multiple cats and 1 got FIP did they all die and how long did it take?My Gracie could have days or week right? Please Help if you know….Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!!

There is no test for FIP – it is diagnosed through symptoms and is invariably fatal. It is carried by a corona virus and many cats will test positive for that. It a mutation in that virus that causes the FIP.

What did the vets at U. of Tennesse say about precautions with the other cats? I would rely on their advice.

I am so sorry that Gracie will lose her life because of this terrible disease.

FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus) and FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus)
